Isaac Asimov wrote the six Lucky Starr novels in the 1950s under the pseudonym Paul French, intending them as a juvenile science fiction series in the mold of the era's derring-do space adventures. This is the second book in the series, following David "Lucky" Starr into the asteroid belt to root out a resurgence of space piracy threatening the Terrestrial Empire.
In 1978, Gregg Press, a specialty imprint of G.K. Hall known for putting genre paperbacks into durable, acid-free hardcover editions for the library market, brought the series back into print with Asimov's name restored and a new preface by the author reflecting on the science a quarter century on. This is that edition, first printing, with dust jacket art by Wayne Barlowe.
Note: this is the Gregg Press hardcover, not the scarce 1953 Doubleday first edition published under the Paul French pseudonym.

Dust jacket: Very Good, with shelfwear and chipping at the head of the spine, no tears or loss of printed area elsewhere, colors bright. The facsimile "Isaac Asimov" signature blocked into the front board is part of the original Gregg Press binding design, not a hand signature.
