• i added an excerpt from a friend in Japan about ESP pickups in the photos

Starting in about the year 1980 ESP The Electric Sound Products Corporation in Japan produced their own brand of pickups. The used very progressive men to research and manufacture those pickups. This manufacturing happened in Tokyo Japan and i know where these were made exactly and who manufactured there and where they appeared in Japan. You can liken that shop in Tokyo and compare it to Grover Jackson's  small shop of pickup winders in Los Angeles California. The comparison is fair but as far as pickups the ESP pickups might be considered better or best.

The flagship ESP pickup was an LH-200 Humbucker. It was introduced early on and it became duplicated and manufactured in high numbers in Tokyo Japan until 1989 when ESP outsourced many things away from mainland Japan. There is the fine line between when things were great from ESP to when guitars and parts became less than. The cut off line for these magical Japan products from ESP Japan was about late 1990.
