This is an original antique report issued by the Lake Erie and Ohio River Ship Canal Association dated July 1911.  This report is 16 pages in the original soft covers with decorative blue and gold string binding measuring about 11” x 8”.   This report gives the history of the project to date, information on the commercial and economic impact building the canal would bring and other information.

The Lake Erie and Ohio River Ship Canal was a major, though ultimately unbuilt, infrastructure project proposed during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was designed to connect the industrial hub of Pittsburgh and the Ohio River to the Great Lakes, primarily to reduce the prohibitive costs of transporting iron ore and coal. The canal concept envisioned a 122-mile waterway connecting the Beaver River (a tributary of the Ohio) up to the southern shores of Lake Erie. While multiple route surveys were conducted and an incorporating act was passed by Congress in 1906, the project was never ultimately built.

This report is an original antique issued in 1911 in very good condition overall with just light handling wear and some toning from age.  Email any questions.  Thanks for looking.
