Round empty paper over tin can, advertising Saltesea brand Clam Chowder soup, made by Saltesea Packing Co., Providence, RI; net weight 1 pound 12 ounces and measuring 4" in diameter and standing 4 1/2" tall.  No date on the paper label but from the looks of the illustration of the sail boat on the front of the tin and other research, my guess is that this is from the late 1920's.  Can was opened from the bottom, so there is a top but no bottom.  Interesting that the can states that if you eat the soup right out of the can it is Rhode Island style clam chowder; add tomatoes and it is Manhattan style clam chowder and add cream and it is New England style clam chowder.  The can is in very good condition with no dents or creases.  The front to the paper label is in outstanding condition while the back and sides have some dark marks.  No rips or tears in the paper.  From a pet free and smoke free home-the can has no odor.  Unusual item, interesting graphics and the only one like it on ebay.
