This is an iconic, pre-war Gruen Curvex men's wristwatch from the 1940s. Promoted during the Art Deco era as the pinnacle of watch engineering, the Curvex line featured a revolutionary curved case and movement designed to anatomically fit the contour of the wrist.
Watch Specifications
- Case: Classic rectangular "Tank" shape with the signature Curvex ergonomic curvature. It is 10K Gold Filled, showing honest vintage wear and minor brassing on the high points of the case back corners.
- Dial: Original vintage champagne/gold dial featuring the "GRUEN CURVEX" signature below 12 o'clock. It features stylized, applied gold Arabic numerals and a dedicated sub-seconds register above 6 o'clock.
- Movement: Housed inside is Gruen’s famous curved manual-wind caliber (likely Cal. 330 or 370), engineered with angled wheel trains to fit the arched casing.
Unique Wooden Bracelet Description
- Construction: The bracelet features hand-crafted, articulated wooden links connected smoothly to allow flexibility around the wrist.
- Style & Fit: Wide, custom-profiled end links seamlessly integrate into the geometric, interlocking segments. Crafted from a dark, dense hardwood (resembling mahogany or walnut) with a smooth finish that highlights the natural grain.
- Provenience: While Gruen originally shipped these with leather straps or metal expansion bands, this wooden bracelet is a highly unique, period-correct aftermarket modification or custom artisan creation perfectly fitted to the watch lugs.
