The bird cage was manufactured by ELPA in West Germany in the early 1960’s. The cage bottom is made from what is called base metal which was then gilded. The red stones are real glass. The two birds are feathered with real feathers that are humanely gathered. The bellows are newly covered with material that should never need recovering. Unit is equipped with three functions-off, intermittent and constant. Recently it was completely refurbished and restored inside and outside, in like new condition. Item never used. Stored in plastic in a smoke free home since the sixties. Two slight pits in the gilded surface on the legs of the unit, mostly invisible. Probably caused in shipping to and from the refurbisher. Otherwise in perfect condition. Operates with a wind up mechanism on the base. This is a valuable piece of vintage art and is fascinating to enjoy. Size is 11 inches to the top of the ring and 5.25 inches in diameter. The feet add another half inch on each side. Birds Actually Chirp!
