You're buying the vintage lava lamp shown in the pictures. The bottom of the base is dated is dated 199x - it's very very hard to read and it's impossible to show it in the photos. I'm pretty sure this is a "midnight" series. 

The liquid is MOSTLY clear, as shown, but it DOES have the tiniest bit of blue haze to it. Wax is a dark purple, as shown (in the close-up photos, it appears a bit more on the light purple, but it really is a pretty dark purple color. The lamp doesn't really "flow" super well, unfortunately. The wax tends to ball up as the photos show. I actually like how it looks, but the wax doesn't get super stretchy.  I think it might be getting too hot and it will need to be put on a dimmer. JUST LOOK AT THE PHOTOS !!!!
