Riata and Spurs
Charles A. Siringo
1927

The life story of the legendary lawman who tracked Billy the Kid with Pat Garrett and infiltrated the Wild Bunch.

First Edition

This is a nice copy of the book as it was originally published containing a detailed account of Siringo's career as a Pinkerton Agent.  Upon publication, the famous detective agency successfully sued the author for breaching the confidentiality of his employment there.  The original printing of the book was recalled and Siringo was forced to replace the second half of the book with bowdlerized material that omitted any direct reference to Pinkerton and any of its cases.  Thankfully, a relatively small number of copies, of which this is one, were not destroyed.
