Player Notes: Shohei Ohtani is a mythical creature. Or at least I assume he is. It’s just not possible that someone could be as good at both pitching and hitting as the yeti-like legends read. Like Bigfoot, the stories strain credibility, like coming off of a serious injury to not only make the All-Star team, but actually leading the NL in runs, total bases, home runs, RBIs, slugging and OPS. Like the Loch Ness monster, the stories result in some people loving him, while others fear him. How about a 50/50 season? Reality? Myth? 4 MVP Award in 7 seasons? The good thing about mythology though, is that the subjects ultimately become immortal, as Ohtani will be when he is enshrined as a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Player Notes: Aaron Judge is now playing for history… he is a 7x All Star and 3x MVP… he is the Captain of the most storied team in MLB history, the New York Yankees. He lead the league in WAR for the third time in 4 years with 9.7. He holds the American League record for home runs in a season with 62, set in 2022, which wasn’t even as good a season as his historic 2024 season in which he had 58 Home Runs, 122 Runs, 144 RBI, 10 SB and a 218 wRC+ . He also holds the record for getting to 350 home runs in the fewest games. In 2025 he hit 53 HR, lead the league in Runs with 137, lead the league in walks with 124, and had an absurd OBP of .457. He is one of the best to ever play the game, and we will enjoy seeing him in Cooperstown one day.
