Beautiful 1845 edition of the Pontificale Romanum, a classic Roman Catholic liturgical work printed in Latin and used in episcopal церemoniес and rites of the Church. Published in Mechelen (Mechliniae) by P.J. Hanicq in 1845.
Finely bound in richly decorated red cloth or leather with elaborate gilt cross centerpiece and ornate gilt floral borders on both boards and spine. The binding remains attractive and solid with age-appropriate rubbing and wear to extremities. Gilt spine lettering and decoration remain visible and elegant.
Interior is remarkably clean for its age with crisp typography and attractive red-and-black title page printing. A handsome mid-19th century ecclesiastical volume with excellent shelf appeal for collectors of antique Catholic liturgy, Latin theological works, or decorative religious bindings.
