An original, vintage, panel stitched Peru flag from the 1940s or 1950s. The hand painted Coat of Arms of Peru is in excellent condition. There is severe historic moth damage to the red panel, please also refer to the accompanying photos as they form part of the description. Suitable for display but not for flying.
With heavy canvas hoist hem and original rope and wooden toggle, it’s 4’6” x 2’3” or approximately 136 x 68cm, a traditional 1½ yard size. With vibrant colours the very detailed national crest has been hand painted onto the flag.
No fraying to the Fly end, it has never been used and has remained in storage since originally purchased. It is unsuitable for flying though ideal for framing or display.
Part of a consignment of international flags made by Excelsior Flags Ltd and supplied to Whiteley's of Bayswater during the 1940s and early 1950s. Photos of some of the original correspondence available to view if required.
