Gaucho Argentine knives are made from Alpacca Silver (which is not exactly silver but it is an alloy of nickel, copper and zinc). Sometimes gold is used in the inlay or copper. I have not tested the gold beyond a neodymium scrap magnet. It shows to not be sterling silver. This is however a vintage gaucho knife with sheath and intricate design work.

The oils are quite prevalent in the sheath and the stamp reads Pampa IND. Argentina. This is an authentic piece purchased from Argentina. It is rather large and the blade comes in at 8-1/2”.
