Sterling Silver Card Tray, Daniel Smith & Robert Sharp, London 1778
English antique sterling silver card tray sitting on three shaped legs.
Hallmarked from London in 1778 with the makers mark being that of Richard Carter, Daniel Smith & Robert Sharp .(the RC at top of mark is worn), This was a short lives partnership only lasting around 14 months..
Whilst it is in good clean order it does have a few negative points, the hallmarks are rubbed as in the London mark and lion passant, there is a line crease on the centre, you have to move around in the light to pick up on (minor but it is there) also a few minor dinks between the outer and inner bead work on the outside (again not drastic but its there), loss of the pattern on the outside before the inner bead work (not as crisp as it once would have been).
Still a very useable piece which displays well.
Measures 153mm in diameter.
