Description
This is a rarely seen 'Gnome Tankard' from Eckhardt & Engler produced from the 430 mould of Rosskopf & Gerz between 1949 and 1971. As there is no oval mark around the maker's mark, I believe the stein to date nearer to 1949.
The tankard is beautifully painted depicting a seated gnome puffing away at his pipe while clutching his beer stein in his right hand.
It is in excellent condition throughout with no chips, cracks or losses, just a little glaze crazing to the base, please see detailed photos to appreciate the great condition.
It measures 24cm tall and is clearly marked to the base 'EE, Made in Western Germany, 430 and 17'.
