This is a used CST/Berger MT102 Magna-Trak 102 Magnetic Locator. These are used to locate ferrous metals in-ground, most commonly used for locating survey pins, manhole covers, pipes, cables and other ferrous items in the ground.

The unit operates off of six standard AA-batteries (included, used). It powers on and was tested and successfully rises in pitch when the tip is near ferrous material.  It has two knobs for volume and sensitivity. The unit itself is in very good condition with light scuffs, scratches, marks and wear from normal use and storage.
