Presented is a lovely antique Whiting sterling silver bowl or basket. This piece is made in the elegant Louis XV pattern, which began production in 1891. The bowl is made in a beautiful openwork design, with pierced petal-like decoration making up the sides and a scrollwork rim. The bowl stands on four classical shell form feet, nicely detailed and textured.

The underside of the rim is stamped with the Whiting maker's mark as well as sterling and a product number of 4038. The underside of the interior is stamped with the retail mark for J.E. Caldwell & Co.

This piece is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The bowl measures about 6 1/2 by 5 by 2 inches, LxWxH.

This piece weighs 122 grams or 4.3 regular ounces.
