This is a 1 of a number of Religious clothing items I am starting to list. I am not sure of the correct names for some of the robes etc. They include Buddhist - Christian - Catholic and other spiritual circles - Masonic - Orders - religious groups including robes, cloaks, vestments, dalmatic, chasubles, collars, copes, cassocks, surplice, albs, stoles, worn by monks, vicar's, priest's, and clergy folk. Some are very fine silk material and others are chunky heavy brocade items. Some very nice brocade fabric with gold and silver bullion embroidery on top. Quite a number are reversible I see for different occasions and ceremonies. With other traditional material cloths etc for the altar and tableware. Maniple, sick burse, chalice covers, plus many of other Catholic Christian items of material too.
Thank you to Tristan who told me this is called a Dalmatic and is worn by a Deacon at Mass.
This is a really beautiful modern garment which can be bought today brand new from certain retailers, and quite a bit different to the other chasuble vestments I have been listing. This looks and feels like it has never been worn.
So its proper name is a Roman Dalmatic and its material is damask and velvet. This has a matching stole as well.
Main colour is pink material with a design and floral. With gold bands which have a pinky purple velvet like velour of 1 and a 1/2 inch between the two 7/8ths inch wide gold trim.
It has a silky pale pink lining.
When laid flat it measures 4 foot across the top neck from sleeve end to end. Front and back neck are the same shape and pattern is the same on both sides. It is 39 inch long to the hem from the neck. The sleeves are right angle large type being 11 inch wide. These are NOT sewn closed on the ends like some I have listed. It measures very nearly 25 inch wide under the arms. Both back and front are same size bits of material again unlike some I have listed. The material is flared out wider at the bottoms being 33 inch wide.
The matching material stole is is the type that has a " dogs leg " just passed half way down. The stole is nearly 50 inch long one side so nearly 100 inch long overall. It is 4 and 1/2 inch wide at the neck and slightly wider at the bottom on the matching purple velvet velour material and its 4 and 3/4 inch wide here. At the dog leg area it has a base metal gilt chain which keeps the stole in place. This chain is 7 and 1/2 inch wide.
Both the stole and vestment have a small label inside which has simply 6.
Together the dalmatic and stole weigh approx. 1.65 kilos.
