A vintage Duchin Creation sterling silver antique rotary telephone dialer.

The mark of Duchin Creation ( Duchin Silversmiths), an American silver company highly prominent during the mid-20th century (predominantly the 1940s to 1960s).

The rounded, bulbous base (the collar) features a short, narrow extension that locks perfectly into the central wheel holes of a vintage rotary phone dial.

The elongated, polished handle allowed users to spin the dial smoothly to select numbers without needing to use their fingers, protecting long fingernails or manicures from chipping. Popular during the mid-20th century, these high-end, luxury vanity accessories were frequently made of sterling silver. They were often kept next to desk phones or carried in a purse.

Purpose and History. Before touch-tone buttons, people had to insert a finger into a rotary phone wheel to dial each digit.

This glamorous style accessory can famously be seen in the opening scenes of the classic film Breakfast at Tiffany's.
