Ticket stub from a game played on 4/15/1998 at since demolished Shea Stadium in New York between the Anaheim Angels and the New York Yankees.

The ticket indicates the game was at Yankee Stadium, but a steel expansion joint fell from within the stadium days earlier which resulted in a few games being postponed and this day's game being moved to Shea Stadium.  It was the first and only home game played by the Yankees at Shea in Queens outside of their 2 seasons using Shea as a temporary home while the original Yankee Stadium was being renovated in 1974-75.

Since the venue change was short-notice, new tickets with Shea seat numbering were not reissued, so Yankee Stadium tickets were used for entry, with stadium staff directing patrons to their seat locations, as noted in newspaper reports and also the telecast of the game that day on MSG.

Both teams dressed and showered at Yankee Stadium and bussed to Queens with the Yankees using the visiting team clubhouse, which was in use by the Cubs, and the third-base dugout.  The Angels used the old Jets locker room.  It was the first ever MLB stadium doubleheader involving 4 different teams as the Mets and Cubs would play there at night.

The Yankees won 6-3 with David Wells pitching into the 9th and Jeff Nelson getting the save.  Wells gave up only 1 hit through 6 innings, and then gave up solo home runs in the 7th, 8th, and 9th, along with his only walk coming in the 9th.

Every Yankee had at least one hit except for Bernie Williams and Dale Sveum.  Sveum was oddly playing his first home game with the Yankees and did it at Shea.

Derek Jeter had a hit and stolen base.  Tino Martinez doubled twice and drove in 2.  Paul O'Neill singled, doubled, and tripled, scored twice, drove in 2, and stole a base.

Darryl Strawberry hit the only Yankees home run among his 3 hits overall, causing the Mets home run apple to begin to raise, but it was reversed before the Mets logo could fully display.
