He gained worldwide fame through the all-encompassing visual design he developed for the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. The pictograms designed for the Games led to the creation of a visual language which is still used today in public spaces the world over. As co-founder, lecturer and rector of the legendary Ulm School of Design, he influenced several generations of international designers.
