"His Excellency" by Zola, Emile.

Chatto & Windus, 1st U.K. printing, no month, 1897.
359 pages.
Hardcover book with decorated endpapers and gilt fore edges to pages.
No dust wrapper.
The covers are white with gilt lettering to spine and front cover.
Other editions of this same book display completely different
covers so I am assuming some past owner had this rebound for
his or her's personal library (?).

The preface is by Ernest A. Vizetelly wherein he states that while
he did not translate this, he made changes/updates to the translation.

This copy I can only grade as Good. Covers are soiled, there are some water
stains to the bottom of some pages, foxing throughout, severe bump to center
of back cover and penciled notation to top of Preface page. (See pics.)
