Based on the visual evidence provided, this 1972 Topps #85 N.L. Batting Leaders card (featuring Joe Torre, Ralph Garr, and Glenn Beckert) appears to be in Near Mint (PSA 7/8) condition, though certain technical factors could lower it upon physical inspection.
Estimated Grade Range: PSA 7 to PSA 8
A professional grade is determined by four key criteria: centering, corners, edges, and surface. 
  • Centering: This card appears exceptionally well-centered for the 1972 Topps set, which is notorious for poor quality control and off-center cuts. It appears close to 50/50 horizontally and vertically, which is a major strength.
  • Corners: At a glance, the corners appear sharp with minimal "whitening" or "fuzzy" edges common in vintage cards. If the corners have any slight fraying visible only under magnification, it would drop from an 8 (Near Mint/Mint) to a 7 (Near Mint).
  • Surface: The colors are vibrant and the registration (focus) is clear. However, vintage cards often have hidden "wax stains" on the back or light surface scratches that can only be seen when tilted under a direct light source.
  • Edges: The edges appear clean without the typical chipping or "notching" often seen on older card stock.

Please see the scan of the card for actual condition.  All cards are NOT gem mint unless graded as such but well taken care of.  I am listing a group of older cards and MAY have a flaw or more issues.  These could include edge issues, corner dings, Corner Feathering, Wrinkles, surface imperfections, scratches, indentations, Etc!  I have scanned the cards so you can see for yourself the actual condition.  Nothing here is hidden.  These cards range from VG to near mint, but as we all know grading is very subjective so please bid accordingly.  I will try to point out any flaws that are not evident on the scan like creases or indentations that I see.  If the card might grade less than VG I will try to explain what I see.
