Description: A rare item for serious collectors  and museums.  A collection of monthly copies of The Bee, bound in a single volume, with an index. The Bee was published by Henry Fisher at the Caxton Press in Liverpool in the 1820s. It was a monthly miscellany for gentlemen, and specialised in content of gentlemanly and supernatural interest. 

This volume contains articles on Vampires, Strange Apparitions, A History of the use of Tobacco, Egyptian Mummies, Culinary Poisons, the Dwarf Jeffery Hudson, Swearing, Cures for Gout, an Account of the Great Sea Serpent of 1817, the Inhabitants of Greenland, Unicorns, and a History of Cockfighting. 

Old half calf binding with marbled boards, worn (see pictures). Internally clean, with some pencilled annotations. The binding is holding firm, but shows evidence that some gatherings have been taken out by a previous owner, many years ago (the page numbering starts at page 74, and has gaps between pages 135-267, 1032 and 1042, 1096 and 1161, and 1417 to 1481). Small burn mark to page 1050. 

A rare item for discerning buyers.
