Notes:
The Atari Portfolio, released in June 1989, was the world’s first palmtop computer. Developed by British firm DIP Research Ltd and licensed to Atari, it was a portable, IBM-compatible device designed for mobile productivity.
Key Features
Operating System: It ran DIP DOS 2.11, which was largely compatible with MS-DOS, allowing it to run simplified versions of popular PC software. Design: Roughly the size of a VHS cassette and weighing under 500g, it featured a non-backlit monochrome LCD (240x64 pixels) and a 63-key QWERTY keyboard.
Hardware: It was powered by an Intel 80C88 CPU (4.92 MHz) and came with 128 KB of RAM. Battery Life: Highly efficient for its time, it could run for up to 100 hours on just three AA batteries. Storage: Instead of a hard drive, it used credit-card-sized solid-state memory cards (32 KB to 128 KB).
