DESCRIPTION & COMMENTS
This 1936 Robinson Arkansas Centennial Half Dollar is a truly elite commemorative issue that combines originality, blazing mint frost, and exceptional preservation in a lofty NGC MS67 grade. Both sides display radiant champagne-white brilliance accented by delicate peripheral golden-apricot toning that frames the devices beautifully without overpowering the coin’s naturally fresh appearance. The surfaces are remarkably clean for the issue, with booming luster flowing across the fields and high points in classic cartwheel fashion. Robinson’s portrait exhibits strong sculptural relief with sharp facial detail, while the reverse eagle and Arkansas motif display equally impressive definition throughout.

Premium-quality Robinson commemoratives in this level of preservation become increasingly elusive, especially examples retaining such wholesome originality and understated vintage color. The coin has tremendous eye appeal due to its balanced combination of icy silver centers, warm peripheral patina, and smooth satin-like surfaces. The strong strike and nearly pristine preservation elevate this example well above the average seen for the type, making it an outstanding addition for commemorative specialists, registry collectors, or anyone seeking a top-tier classic silver commemorative with premium visual character.

About the Robinston-Arkansas Commemorative Silver Coin
The Robinson-Arkansas Half Dollar was issued in 1936 to commemorate the centennial of Arkansas statehood and to honor Senator Joseph T. Robinson, one of the most influential political figures in Arkansas history. Robinson served as Governor of Arkansas before becoming a long-serving U.S. Senator and Senate Majority Leader, making him one of the most nationally recognized politicians from the state during the early 20th century. His portrait appears prominently on the obverse of the commemorative, giving the coin a distinctive and highly personal design compared to many other classic commemoratives of the era. The issue was struck during the height of the classic commemorative boom of the 1930s and remains one of the more historically significant and visually recognizable silver commemorative half dollars from that period.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Robinson issue is that its reverse design is identical to the standard Arkansas Centennial Half Dollar. Both coins share the dramatic eagle-over-Arkansas motif created by sculptor Henry Kreis, featuring a powerful eagle superimposed over the state’s symbolic diamond and star arrangement. The reverse is widely admired for its bold Art Deco-inspired geometry and strong sculptural relief, making it one of the more visually striking commemorative reverses of the classic silver era. Because the Robinson type combines this iconic Arkansas reverse with the unique Robinson portrait obverse, many collectors consider it a distinctive two-in-one design within the Arkansas commemorative series.
