A gorgeous French Republic Neo-Classical stippled etching and engraving by Barthélemy Roger (1767-1840) after a drawing by Pierre-Paul Prud’hon (1758-1823). It is printed in black ink on fine old watermarked laid paper and the title is "Age Mur" or the mature age, the subject a remarkably striking bearded man of middle years.

It is signed in the bottom margin for Prud'hon, Roger and for the publisher Jean, working in Paris. It also bears a copyright date of "Vendemiaire an XI" this is the old French Republican calendar system and it translates to September/October 1802.

Good sized, the plate measures 18 x 12 3/4 inches, the sheet measures 19 1/4 x 13 3/4 inches. Paper shows age toning and minor foxing mostly around the edges, has a couple of thin spots,  otherwise very fine condition and should frame up beautifully.

The same print is in the collection of the Louvre Museum, Paris and another impression is in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
