vintage, footballer model busts of “Joe Mercer’s Great Britain Squad ‘71”,
originally issued in 1971 as free gifts at Cleveland Petrol stations
(Anglo-American Oil Company). The figures are made of cream-coloured plastic
and are modelled on the soccer stars selected by Joe Mercer for his 1971 Great
Britain Squad. The players included are:
Billy Bremner
(Leeds United & Scotland); Martin Peters (Tottenham Hotspur & England);
Francis Lee (Manchester City & England); Ron Davies (Southampton &
Wales); Alan Mullery (Tottenham Hotspur & England); Jimmy Johnstone (Celtic
& Scotland).
Average height
of each figure: Approx 44mm (1.75 inches).
Good used
condition (a small chip to the base of the Bremner bust).
