The Night of the Iguana (1964), directed by John Huston and based on the play by Tennessee Williams. The film brought together a remarkable cast—Richard Burton, Ava Gardner, Deborah Kerr, and Sue Lyon—each representing a different era of Hollywood stardom. The production became almost as famous for its off-screen drama as for the film itself. Shot on location in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the movie helped turn the small fishing village into an international tourist destination. The production was also surrounded by intense media attention because Richard Burton arrived with Elizabeth Taylor during the height of their scandalous relationship, drawing photographers from around the world.
