🎃 1913 Halloween Postcard — Fairman Co. “Pink of Perfection”

Publisher: The Fairman Co., Cincinnati & New York Series/Imprint: Pink of Perfection Postmark: Chicago, Illinois — October 29, 1913 Addressee: Miss Luna Hall, Depot Harbor, Ontario Stamp: 1¢ Washington (green), tied with clear circular cancel

Front Design

Sepia‑tone duotone lithograph depicting a silhouetted witch flying across a full moon, surrounded by swirling clouds, with a harvest corn motif below. Caption reads: “Hallowe’en Greeting — The Witches are coming! Watch out — Watch out.” Executed in warm brown‑black ink on cream stock, characteristic of Fairman’s early 1910s tonal holiday work.

Production Notes

Printed using a two‑ink duotone process:

  • Dark key ink for silhouette and linework

  • Lighter tonal wash for moon glow and atmospheric shading This gives the card its distinctive sepia duotone appearance, a hallmark of Fairman’s pre‑chromolithographic period.

This is consistent with Fairman’s unnumbered holiday sets, which often mixed seasonal art with their branded backs.
