Old and much used copper plated silent butler or crumb catcher made of a base metal with copper plating and a flip top operating with a hinge. The handle and the knob are made of amber pyralin celluloid a type of plastic created in the late 1800s. This likely dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s.
We have not attempted to clean or polish this piece in order to retain the original patina. The outside is in good condition; inside there is flaking of the copper plating. A nice collectible piece for display.
