Beautiful antique hand painted porcelain vanity/ dresser tray made by Delinieres & Co of Limoges, France.  The "D & Co France" mark on the back dates this piece to the period 1894-1900, and that is kindly confirmed by the artist's signature also on the back, "A.M. Smith, 1896." Smith was likely an American decorator as much of Delinieres handpainted work was done here on white Limoges wares.

The detailed painting is of multicolored chrysanthemums on a background of pale blue, like a sky. The edges of the tray are sea green with a lot of hand-gilt decoration, and the entire piece has a freeform shape with stunning molded handles and reticulation.  The tray measures 12" across at its widest point and 8 1/2" deep. It is in excellent condition except for a couple of areas of wear to the gilded edge, as in photo #7. There is no damage to the porcelain itself or wear to the main painting. Not bad for its 129 years! The bottom of the tray is unglazed so there is scuffing there, and the original auction label is still present.  This is one of the prettiest Limoges porcelain dresser trays that I've ever seen, and it makes a great display piece.
