Vintage Herdim Violin Peg Hole Reamer Tool.
Model #: 730502.
Standard Straight Edges.
The reamer blades are made of High Speed Steel (HSS) hardened to 62 HRC to guarantee exceptionally long-lasting edges. The straight cutting edges are particularly sharp and guarantee perfectly round holes. Also, the edges are abrasion resistant and built for continuous use.
1:30 Taper.
Diameter: 5.5mm (minimum) x 10mm (maximum)
There is a titanium-nitride coating (TIN) that triples the reamer's edge life, protects it from corrosion, and reduces friction during use. By allowing a smoother and gentler cut, it also reduces the stress placed on the pegbox. The TIN coating does not affect the sharpness of the reamer.
Wood handle.
Made in Germany.
This tool was purchased in the 1980's for our orchestra repair shop.
It is in phenomenal condition! The edges are still sharp.
