NOTE: When replacing the pump, it is essential to check whether the oil reservoir is clogged or if the oil is contaminated. The manufacturer requires that the oil reservoir (LR000578) be replaced simultaneously with the pump, as the filter screen in the old reservoir is likely clogged with metal shavings and sludge. As soon as the new pump begins operating, it draws in contaminants from the old system, causing internal scratches within minutes, which leads to abnormal noises, heavy operation, and rapid failure. Incorrect or degraded power steering fluid specifications, or the use of non-Land Rover-specific fluids (such as standard ATF), result in insufficient viscosity and wear resistance. This leads to poor lubrication, accelerated internal wear, and overheating of the pump housing. Pump replacement must be performed by a professional through authorized channels. If air is not completely bled from the system during replacement, air compression creates air locks, causing unstable oil pressure. This simultaneously disrupts fluid lubrication and leads to dry grinding that damages components.
