In this listing we have a really cute Ken outfit. This outfit was sold by Mattel as part of the clothing sets that they released for Barbie’s boyfriend, also included is a gray t-shirt from a different Ken set. It didn’t come with the outfit originally, but it’s from Mattel. This outfit consists of a pink hooded jacket with a black and white checkerboard design in the front and white surging in the front, a gray t-shirt, a pair of blue denim inspired shorts with white contrast stitching and white surging at the bottom, and a pair of silver plastic sneakers. A prefect beach day outfit! The shirt and shorts are designed to fit the “Original” Ken body and will fit similar sized dolls. The shirt and shorts close in the back with Velcro and the jacket has no closures. This outfit was made in Indonesia. My pictures came out a little saturated, the colors are a bit more muted in person.
The outfit is in good condition. It has have never been played with and were just taken out of the box. The jacket is in good shape. I will point out that all clothing pieces were held into the box with those small plastic tabs. I was very careful in removing them, but they leave holes in the clothes from how they were put in at the factory. There is a hole in the main body of the jacket in the back and on the right side of the hood at the top. There are some excess threads at the front where the hood meets the body of the jacket, the bottom front on the right and left side, and at the side seams at the cuffs on the sleeves. The jacket is a bit wrinkled from how it was held in the box. I don’t think it’s possible to iron this fabric. It’s a very thin fabric that is pretty sheer. In a couple places there are some tucks that got sewn down. There’s one at the front of the left shoulder seam, some on the back of both shoulders, and along the back where the hood is sewn to the main body of the jacket. There is some puckering on the underarms at the armpits. The stitching on the front opening at the bottom is a little sloppy on both sides. On one of the arm seams there are a couple threads poking out along the side seam. It looks secure, but I would still be careful with it. The shirt is in good condition. It has holes on the front and back on both sides at the shoulders. The back right hole is pretty big. Since this is on a stretch knit fabric the holes could run and get worse. I would be careful when putting this shirt on since it does have to stretch. The holes might need to be treated with something. There are excess threads at the back where the Velcro is sewn on and at both arm holes at the arm holes from the side seams. The sleeves are built into the main body of the shirt. There is some puckering at the armpits, that’s a very common issue for shirt construction like this. The side seams at the sleeves tend to want to curl into themselves. This will be less obvious when they are on a doll and the doll’s arms fill them out. The back hem and side seams at the sleeves are a little uneven with one side a little longer compared to the other. The shorts are in good condition. They do have holes in the bottom back near the bottom hem from those plastic tabs. There is a hole in the crotch and back from a plastic tab. They do have some excess threads in the back where the back where the Velcro is sewn on and the inseam at the bottom of the pant legs. The inside hem at the bottom of the pant legs are a little uneven, one side is slightly longer than the other. The shoes are in good shape. They have seam lines and mold injection spots with some excess plastic in some spots. They do have some small molded in lines here and there and some small surface flaws, but it’s really minor. Please examine all pictures to see the exact condition of this outfit and please keep in mind some issues are more visible in person compared to pictures.
