Presented is a lovely coin silver master butter knife from Gorham and Thurber. This piece has a great engraved pattern full of scrolls throughout the handle and down one side of the blade. The handle has a nice fiddle shape. There is a monogram within the engraved pattern, MEL, in flowing script.

The piece has very worn marks that are less identifiable in the photos. With a loop, we were able to make out "pure coin" on the far right and Gorham & Thurber on the far left. We assume the middle mark says Providence. This piece was made between 1850-1852 as those are the years that Gorham and Thurber were in production.

This piece is in great condition. There is a nice curve to the handle. Pattern details have worn a fair amount expect for the very top of the handle. Let the photos be your guide. The piece is free of any breaks or splits and there are no repairs.

Measurements: 7 7/8 inches long.

Weight: 43 grams or 1.5 ounces
