Presented is a charming little silver miniature done in the form of a trough
used for treading grapes. The sides of the trough are decorated with hand
chased, repoussé genre scenes of figures carrying water and grapes to make wine
with trellises of grapevines in the background. This piece was made in Germany
in the late 1800s or early 1900s.
The underside of the trough is marked with German pseudo hallmarks. There is
a French import mark below the rim which someone has tried to obscure by
stamping over it.
The condition is excellent. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no
repairs.
The trough is 1 1/8 inches wide and 1 inch tall.
The weight is 22.6 grams or 0.8 ounces.
