The item is an original issue of Rivington’s New-York Gazetteer; or, the Connecticut, Hudson’s River, New-Jersey, and Quebec Weekly Advertiser, printed in New York by James Rivington, dated Thursday, February 10, 1774. The folio sheet retains its engraved ship masthead and includes period commercial advertisements and slavery-era notices reflecting pre-Revolutionary colonial life.
Condition appears consistent with age, with fold wear, toning, and scattered foxing on laid rag paper showing clear chain lines.

Folio (approx. 15 x 19 in.). Colonial American newspaper printed on laid rag paper in multiple columns with engraved ship masthead. A pre-Revolutionary New York issue published in the tense months following the Boston Tea Party and prior to the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War.

Content includes commercial and maritime notices, indigo trade advertising, and period advertisements reflecting colonial economic and social life, notably an enslaved-person sale notice and various mercantile announcements. Such material provides valuable primary-source insight into transatlantic commerce and everyday life in British North America.

An authentic example of a Loyalist-associated New York newspaper printed by James Rivington, whose publications occupy an important place in Revolutionary-era print culture and collecting.
