Hand Forged 170 mm Masutani Santoku knife with polished and Kasumi (Cloudy Misty) finish on the grind.

Edge steel is VG1 stainless for easy maintenance.

The Knife sharpens very easily to a very fine edge. Although edge retention is not as long as a blue or white steel, this knife performs very well in a home kitchen and lasts many months before it could use some sharpening.


Masutani is from Echizen, Japan. San Mai Construction where softer stainless steel sandwiches the core VG1 steel.

Rosewood Handle with bolster increasing its value.

Weight is about 138 gms, Blade height about 47mm and spine thickness around 2mm at heel. So, laser like performance.


This knife has been well used and sharpened a few times on whetstones. It is in pretty good condition with some minor surface scratches / spots on the polished area.
