The election of 2000 was arguably the beginning of the breakdown in trust in the American electoral system, as the contest was ultimately decided by one vote: that of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who tilted the majority of the court 5-4 in Bush's favor in "Bush v. Gore" and halted the recounts in Florida.
When the recount was halted, Bush won Florida by 537 votes, a margin of 0.009 percent. It was the first time since 1888 that the winner of the election had lost the popular vote.
Offering a near-fine front section of the St. Petersburg Times (Florida) election edition of Nov. 8, 2000. Folded twice into quarters; slight bit of chafing in the center at the intersection of the folds. This is the entire A section only, the national/international news, election updates, and editorial pages. It does not includes sports. arts, or local news sections.
Bonus: I will include two contemporaneous bumper stickers: "Bush Won, Deal With It!" and "Republicans for Voldemort".
