Queen / Freddie Mercury 1999 UK Stamp

Original vintage unused/unmounted stamp titled 'Mercury's Magic' commemorating the life of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury (himself an avid stamp collector). The stamp was designed by Peter Blake and issued in the UK in June 1999 for the Royal Mail's Millennium Series, recognising some of the most famous Britons over the last 1,000 years.  

Controversially it features a small rendering of drummer Roger Taylor in the background and guidlines for the Royal Mail include a provision that the only living persons who can be depicted on stamps are members of Britain's Royal Family.
