Lubricate the Spindle and Hole Saw Consistently: When executing high-speed cutting passes into heavy-wall steel tubes, always apply a liberal amount of cutting oil or specialized tapping fluid to both the arbor shaft and the hole saw teeth. Operating dry will instantly dull the saw teeth and score the precision bearing guide.
Anchor the Notcher Chassis Rigidly: To prevent intense rotational chatter and catastrophic hole saw snapping, always bolt the base of the pipe notcher securely into a heavy-duty bench vice or onto a solid structural steel workstation table before pulling the drill trigger.
Match Rotational Speeds to Material Density: When cutting stainless steel, chromoly, or thick mild steel tubing, run your 1/2" drill at a low RPM setting combined with steady, firm downward pressure. Excessive drilling velocities will cause intense heat buildup, ruining the hole saw temper and hardening the pipe material.
