On offer here a presumably perfect, still Factory Sealed album conveying some of Horowitz's greatest, Live!, concert triumphs. Horowitz's Rachmaninoff was always imbued with the performer's grandiose technique and interpretive panache--really peerless playing in this repertoire. Even better, this album unites inimitable, Live concert performances from Horowitz's Sold Out solo recitals during his famed 1967 and 1968 US tours. This is maestro Horowitz absolutely in his prime and at a high peak of insightful, revelatory pianism. Note that the soloist plays here his own revised version of the Sonata--revisions fully endorsed and approved by the composer himself, one of Horowitz's dearest and closest friends from the Old Country.
