Description
From visionary director Alex Proyas (The Crow) comes the cult sci-fi noir masterpiece Dark City — a haunting, mind-bending thriller set in a city where the sun never rises and reality itself is constantly rewritten.
John Murdoch (Rufus Sewell) awakens in a hotel bathtub with no memory of who he is or how he got there. A corpse lies nearby, strange spiral carvings mark the victim’s flesh, and a mysterious phone call tells him to run.
Soon Murdoch finds himself hunted by the police, pursued by a woman claiming to be his wife, and stalked by a group of eerie pale figures known as “The Strangers” — beings who appear to manipulate time, memory, and the city itself… yet Murdoch seems to possess powers even they cannot control.
Blending film noir, science fiction, and German expressionist imagery, Dark City features an outstanding cast including Kiefer Sutherland, William Hurt, Jennifer Connelly, and Richard O'Brien. With a screenplay by Proyas, Lem Dobbs, and David S. Goyer, this cult classic remains one of the most visually striking and philosophically intriguing sci-fi films ever made.
