The backlight film of the STUDER A727 CD player may darken or become illegible over time due to aging. The only solution is to replace the backlight film. We have specially customized a universal replacement for the A727, which is perfectly compatible in size.
⚠️ IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTE: The film must be installed in the correct direction. The side without electrodes is the light-emitting surface.
We have summarized the simplest repair steps for you:
  1. Disassembly: Carefully unsolder the two purple and gray wires. Then, unsolder one end of each of the three resistors. This will allow you to remove and install the new backlight film.
  2. Reassembly: After installing the new backlight film, insert the wires and resistors back into their original soldering holes and re-solder them.
  3. Testing & Calibration: Power on the unit to test. Measure the voltage on the backlight film's pins. The normal voltage should be within AC 100V. However, due to the age of the unit, the voltage may rise (we measured one unit that reached 130V).
    • Locate the variable resistor next to the display ribbon cable port.
    • Adjust it to lower the voltage to around 90V. This makes the backlight dimmer and significantly extends the lifespan of your new backlight film.
