The piece features a rounded bowl form with an integrated sculptural handle, characteristic of mid-century French studio pottery produced in Vallauris. The surface is finished with a lightly textured off-white glaze with natural speckling, a hallmark of Reynaud’s rustic and expressive ceramic style.

The exterior is decorated with hand-painted floral motifs in deep red tones, accompanied by subtle earthy and blue accents created during the firing process. The underside reveals a terracotta base bearing the workshop mark associated with Le Murier.

This piece reflects the creative spirit of the Vallauris ceramic movement of the post-war period, when numerous artists and workshops contributed to the revival of French artistic pottery.

Petit poêlon ou bol de service en céramique réalisé par Gustave Reynaud pour l’atelier Le Murier à Vallauris, vers les années 1950.

La pièce présente une forme arrondie avec un manche intégré sculptural, typique de la céramique d’atelier produite à Vallauris au milieu du XXe siècle. La surface est recouverte d’un émail blanc légèrement moucheté, caractéristique du style rustique et expressif développé par Reynaud.

Le décor extérieur est orné de motifs floraux peints à la main dans des tons rouge profond, accompagnés de nuances terreuses et bleutées issues des effets de cuisson. Le dessous en terre cuite porte la marque de l’atelier Le Murier.

Cette pièce s’inscrit dans le mouvement créatif de la céramique de Vallauris de l’après-guerre, période durant laquelle de nombreux artistes et ateliers ont contribué au renouveau de la poterie artistique française.
