Beatles 3rd State Awesome Peeled LA #6 Butcher Cover

Please read entire description/auction terms prior to bidding on this item. Thank You

See attached video of this actual jacket being peeled

If you've been looking for a genuine and authentic 3rd State (peeled) 1966 LA #6 Mono Butcher Cover that won't break the bank that doesn't look like it is ready for the trash can, read on. This is the first genuine 3rd state we've had in a while in this lower price range. Please see the time lapsed video of this actual jacket being peeled.

Many collectors consider this album the "holy grail" of their record collection. While these jackets may seem costly to the entry level collector, these particular jackets have tended to hold their value over the years. A First State cover sold recently on Ebay for over 12k ! While that is certainly out of reach for most collectors, this offering is certainly more attainable at an opening bid of under $875.

Keep in mind that these Los Angeles #6 Butcher Covers, in particular, are way harder to peel and cannot be steamed off. Most have been ruined by amateur attempts at peeling.

This Butcher Cover is an excellent value that presents nicely and is a perfect candidate for framing due to the fact that the jacket is not in tip top shape. Still this offering presents better than most offerings you see under $900. This jacket has a few condition issues (see detailed description below) but is a great entry level piece that presents well in this price range.

These #6 jackets are much harder to come by in such displayable condition.

Although it is sad each week to see more and more recently poorly peeled covers go up for sale, the good news is that jackets such as this, that present well, are only increasing in value as more and more get destroyed each week by amateur peel attempts.

Please read the jacket description below for specific details on condition.

Most LA designated 2nd state trunk covers were adhered for Capitol Records by the Modern Album Company during the paste over process with a difficult to remove adhesive. These cannot be "steamed" off. For every nice one that exists, there are probably a thousand bad to mediocre peels. Most of the severely damaged 3rd state covers you see on the internet for sale are improperly peeled LA Jackets. Look around and compare. Please check our positive feedback for customer satisfaction of past sales of genuine Butcher Covers. Also look at realized prices of completed auctions and compare.

While the market is currently getting flooded with over-hyped/over-graded peels with large obvious large scars/damage/paper residue, notably warped jackets from improper peeling technique. etc, the good news is that this particular Butcher Slick looks decent, which is unusual especially in regard to these particular Los Angeles examples. Due to the difficulty of the peel, these LA Butcher Covers are much harder to come by in displayable condition. But don't just take our word for it, look around and compare what you are buying for what price. Take a close look at the photos and please see below for specific condition description.

This item will be safely and securely double boxed and shipped to you via Priority Mail. Please read complete description prior to bidding.

Condition:

Front of Jacket:

Front Peeled Butcher Slick on this harder to peel #6 Los Angeles jacket presents nicely from a professional peeling process as seen in the attached video. Unfortunately, this particular jacket was covered with packing tape, which complicated the peeling process that much more. As a result, there appears to be some tiny touch ups here and there but nothing really huge that takes away from the overall look of the piece as a whole. Factory glue residue, paper residue, etc is minimal. There is a small bump on the mouth edge as seen in photos.

Please see photos to verify the specific conditions (photos may vary slightly in colors, shading, etc due to different lighting sources used during photography) described and feel free to contact with questions. The item shown is exact item that you will receive and is a decent entry level example of a west coast peel.

Seams:

Top seam was entirely taped with clear packing tape and some tape still remains. There is a seam reinforcement of the very end with what looks like archival hinging tape. Bottom seam was also taped but much of that was removed and again most of that bottom seam was neatly reinforced inside of the jacket.  To protect the integrity of what remains of these seams and avoid future damage, a record should never be attempted to be forced or stored inside this jacket (See close up photos of seams).

Spine:

Spine has some writing legible but this also was taped by the original owner and much of the tape remains so that the print was not lost. Other than this, the spine exhibits cracking and aging evident. (See Spine photos).

Back Of Jacket:

The back of the jacket displays average wear/tanning/remaining tape, staining, etc. (see photo of back)

Trunk Slick:

Sorry but no trunk slick included on this one.

Record

Comes with West Coast mono pressing in Fair to Good visual condition (lots of scratches and scuffs). Plays through surprisingly well (more like VG) without major trouble or bothersome disturbance. This record was obviously played many many times by the original owner and probably on a cheaper phonograph. Sorry but no Capitol inner sleeve with this one.

Terms Of Auction/Shipping:

Due to recent inflation and subsequent increases in actual USPS shipping costs, Buyer pays $34.99 for properly packed double boxed priority shipping with tracking. Shipping of such a high value, large package with significant weigh is costly and labor intensive and will likely be more that what is being charged here. Regardless, the cost to you will be capped at $34.99. Bidders with low feedback or new accounts must contact us prior to bidding on this item. Seller reserves the right to cancel bids at any time. Due to the exceptional cost and labor involved in shipping this item, this is being sold "AS IS" and there are No Returns on this purchase. Please review all photos and descriptions and please contact with questions prior to bidding. What you see is what you get. This item has been through a laborious process from the 2nd state to what you see here, and as such, the grading is unique on this item. This cannot be graded like a comic book or a baseball card due to the fact that this jacket has twice been altered from its original state, once by the paste over process at the Capitol Factory and likewise by the peeling/restoration process. Any minor imperfections are from either process. The photos speak for themselves and we do our best to accurately grade these historic artifacts.

Please not that T- Shirt seen in background is NOT INCLUDED in this auction and is for display purposes only.

Thank You !
