1861 $5 The Bank of Howardsville note from Howardsville, Virginia.
This bank operated from 1856 until it failed in the 1860's.
This black and green note features a portrait of a farm woman in an oval frame above the title. On the left is a Vignette of Justice. On the right is the Virginia State Seal that depicts Virtus standing over a defeated tyrant.
This note grades Fine+.
It measures ~ 7" x 3".
