RARE 1930s-40s VINTAGE A.L.P. FLORAL TOOLED LEATHER HOLSTER FOR S&W 22/32 KIT GUN 4" Etc.

Offered for your consideration, a remarkably well preserved floral tooled leather holster made by Atchison Leather Products for the S&W 22/32 Kit Gun, S&W Regulation Police .38 or a Colt Police Positive with a 4" barrel.  This holster is from the 1930s-1940s and is a wonderful example of a classic holster from another era.

A.L.P. Co. was founded in 1908 as the Atchison Leather Products Company in a manufacturing warehouse that stood against the tranquil banks of the Missouri River in Atchison, Kansas. The first leather products produced were team harnesses, bridles, halters, horse collars and a variety of leather cut parts. Atchison was a gateway to the west and was the last stop for supplies for travelers before they headed further west. As the horse and buggy days subsided, the company began to make leather straps for Henry Ford and the emerging automobile business. The straps were sold to dealers as accessories to the automobiles.

During WWI, the company produced pistol holsters, knife sheaths, and strap-work for the U.S. Government.

In 1939, when WWII started, there was once again a need for many leather products, pistol holsters, sheaths, ax covers, belts, and a variety of leather straps for the U.S. Government. The company ramped up production to meet the war effort.

After WWII ended, a major shift was made to produce leather products for the Sporting Goods trade like the holster shown here.

Stamped on back of holster is the "A.L.P. CO." over "252-38-4"and "W".  Closed muzzle.  Holster will accommodate up to a ~2" belt.

Holster is in excellent, nearly new condition, all stitching is tight and it is unmodified from original condition and should serve as a worthy companion to your prized revolver.
