Fresh from an estate sale is this EXTREMELY RARE Antique Off-White glaze Stoneware / Yellow Ware pitcher with the highly sought after LINCOLN & LOG CABIN scene with very nice mold detail. The left side features Lincoln's famous profile and a camp fire. The opposite side features a log cabin with smoke billowing from the chimney, and a stack of logs with a buried ax to the right of the cabin. It has a thumb spur on top of the applied handle to enhance handling of this large, one gallon pitcher. The front face of the handle features a raised relief ax handle! It was made by BUCKEYE POTTERY of Macomb, Illinois and produced in the early 1900s. Measures approx. 9” high to the top rim (highest point of the spout) x 6-7/8” diameter at the bottom. It will be a great addition to your rare stoneware collection. It would be very difficult to find one of these great pitchers in better condition. Don't let this hard-to-find piece get away. Be sure to click Buy-It-NOW before it's too late!!!

CONDITION: This wonderful piece survived more than 100 years and is in near MINT "as made" condition. It has several small glaze flecks and roughness around the perimeter of the bottom rim. There is a minor smear of "brighter white" glaze at the back of Lincoln's neck and bust extending to the bottom of the pitcher - this is in the glaze and was done in the making. This early antique piece also has minor mold imperfections that are a result of the hand-made manufacturing process, and are common to these early pieces - these mold imperfections add character and assure this is an antique and not a reproduction - reproductions typically have near perfect molding resulting from automated manufacturing process versus the early hand made pieces. It also has the usual staining / glaze crazing / oxidation found on these early pieces. That's it!!! NO CHIPS, CRACKS, HAIRLINE CRACKS OR REPAIRS to this piece. It has the usual manufacturing characteristics found on OLD yellow ware / stoneware (i.e., pits, pops, glaze skips, rubs, runs, bubbles, glaze separations, staining, crazing, and wrinkles & lines in glaze).

Please note that I have not cleaned this piece - the new owner can have that honor. There is minor dirt & grime on the bottom inside surface and bottom unglazed rim.
