Hand woven and in near mint condition suggesting that it was a treasured possession which was carefully looked after by the weaver and her family.

Beautifully hand woven using a version of weft float. The white highlights are cotton, the rest wool. Most, if not all, of the colours are natural dyes. The opening slit on one of the long sides would suggest it was probably made for use as a pillow or cushion, to be stuffed with wool or other material. Mid 1900s. 47cm x 33 cm (about 18.5 inches by 13 inches).

The Zemmours or Aït Zemmour are a Berber confederation of Sanhadja tribes living in the Middle Atlas region, Morocco.

Having recently downsized I don’t have room to display all the fabrics I have accumulated. I am a collector, not a dealer.

I am selling other woven fabrics so please check out my other listings.
